Gary Beard is a lifelong resident of Louisiana. He and his wife Diane have been married for over 26 years and have 6 children. Born in Lake Charles, Gary moved to Baton Rouge with his family and has lived in the capitol city for over 50 years.

Gary is a professional engineer and graduated in Civil Engineering from LSU. He owns a small family engineering business which was started by his father in 1971. He has also worked in the field of environmental engineering research, developing new and innovative water purification technologies that have been used on a global basis. He has received numerous US and foreign patents for these inventions. He has served communities throughout the country as a consulting engineer for public works projects - water systems, power generation, roads, water reclamation systems, and public infrastructure.

Gary has also been involved in the film and entertainment industry for over a decade. He has written numerous screen plays and worked with notable people such as Sir Sean Connery.

Gary has served two terms in the Louisiana House of Representatives from Baton Rouge. He has a proven record of conservative leadership. His support of legislation for tax reductions and fiscal reform is well-recognized.  As an outspoken advocate of Traditional Family Values, he has authored many pro-life and pro-family legislative instruments.
